Developing Safety Standards in the Arab States: Toy Industry Association (TIA) Hosts Delegation from Gulf Countries

U.S. toy industry stakeholders exchanged ideas about toy safety standards and certification with a delegation from the Arab states of the Persian Gulf on March 24th, 2011, during a day-long webinar and conference at the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) offices in New York City.
Conference participants, both in-person and via webinar, learned of the new Regulatory System and the new Regional Conformity Assessment Scheme (RCAS) for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) single market, as well as the efforts being made by the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) to ensure that the development of standards in the region will align with the ISO 8124, the International Organization for Standardization’s family of standards on toy safety, and the federally-mandated U.S. toy standard ASTM F963.
