Korea, Republic of

Electrical appliances

With the intension of creating a new paradigm in safety system, we plan to move from the administrative regulation oriented safety management system to a self-regulatory safety management system by requiring manufacturers or suppliers to have self-regulate and maintain responsibility and by conducting post market surveillances to monitor the markets. The 11 items including laminators and air purifiers subject to the Safety Certification are going to fall within the scope of the Self-Regulation Safety Confirmation. The 21 items including video game consoles, and studying devices using audio and/or video currently subject to the Self-Regulation Safety Confirmation will be subject to the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity. With an aim to improve the subordinate statutes by eliminating unnecessary burdens to citizens, certification grounds for multi-functioning machines have been established and the mandatory period for storing the self-inspection results has been reduced from for more than 3 years to for a period of 3 years. The products requiring safety maintenance such as solvent recovering dryers and bedside lamps are newly added to the scope of the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity.
