NHTSA is proposing to amend the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) to provide that an identifier is not required if the horn control is placed in the middle of the steering wheel. If the horn control is placed elsewhere in the motor vehicle, the control would be required to be identified by the specified horn symbol in a color that stands out clearly against the background.
