NIST Standards in Trade Conference to Focus on Conformity Assessment in the ASEAN Region

The National Institute of Standards and Technology, Standards Coordination Office will hold a Standards in Trade Conference for ASEAN Economies on Conformity Assessment in the Electrical and Electronics Sectors on
March 24-27, 2014, in Gaithersburg, Maryland on the campus of NIST, the U.S. national metrology institute.
The objective of this meeting is to share best practices that will support the evolving ASEAN's standards cooperation and economic integration goals as the ASEAN community moves toward its goal of economic integration by 2015. The information exchange will focus on conformity assessment as a key component of trade practice and regulation, and the role of product marking to support Conformity Assessment programs. The agenda will cover the U.S. standards and conformity system and include reports from all ASEAN economies on their conformity assessment and standardization practices./
There is no fee to attend this event. All participants must register in advance in order to enter the NIST Campus. There will be no on-site registration. The deadline to register is Monday, March 17. To register for the conference, please go to the link below. Attendance is limited.

The host hotel, the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center, is a full service hotel and a limited block of rooms have been reserved at a special discounted rate of $149.00 USD single room, per night, plus 15% tax. Complimentary internet access and breakfast are included.

The hotel is located a short distance from the NIST campus where the workshop will be held. It is just north of the Washington, D.C. Capital Beltway and 30 kilometers from downtown Washington, D.C. The hotel is convenient to restaurants and shopping. Roundtrip transportation will be provided between the hotel and NIST each day. In addition, the hotel offers free shuttle bus service to/from the Shady Grove Metro rail station Monday through Friday.
