Standards
A standard is a document that contains technical specifications or other precise criteria to be used consistently as a rule, guideline, or definition of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes, personnel or services are competent and/or fit for their intended purpose(s).

Conformity Assessment
Conformity Assessment is the demonstration that specified requirements relating to a product, process, system, person or body are fulfilled.

Accreditation
Accreditation is a confirmation by a third-party that a conformity assessment body has formally demonstrated its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks.

Metrology
Metrology is the science of measurement. It deals with physical measurement standards (not documentary standards).
