Gaithersburg, M.D. - The ‘Global Standards Information’ (GSI) website (http://gsi.nist.gov) launched on September 1, 2010 is a new way for you to stay informed of the latest standards-related news, regulatory developments, events and workshops around the world. Developed and maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Standards Services Division this new site includes a variety of interactive tools to bring you the standards information you need on a daily basis.
"Given the rapid adoption and complexity of new product standards both locally and globally, we realized we needed to create a new way for our customers to find and share information," explained Gordon Gillerman, Chief of SSD. "We created this site with the goal of providing the most up-to-date information in an engaging and easy to use format."
Visitors to the site are greeted by a large, colorful world map, and can drill down to a specific region or country to find key fast facts and contacts, the latest global standards news and events, in-depth resources, and highlights of proposed regulations that may affect product market access. The site offers user-friendly navigation and a clean layout to quickly find relevant information.
A key feature of the GSI is the ability for visitors to register to receive customized email updates for specific regions or on topics of greatest interest to them.
In addition to providing information on global standards and conformity assessment, the GSI organizes and displays a variety of important resources to create a 'first-stop' experience for our customers.
In the coming months, the site will offer additional multimedia features and specialized regional and local content.
